Expert guidance, before or after testing
Sometimes the right first step is a conversation. Our consultations give families and professionals a clear read on the situation and a sensible plan.
What is a consultation?
A consultation is a focused meeting with one of our doctors, without committing to a full evaluation. Families use consultations in two main ways: to decide whether to pursue an assessment, and to get expert help interpreting an evaluation report written by another provider.
Deciding whether to assess
Not sure if your child needs a comprehensive evaluation? We will listen to your concerns, review the history, and give you an honest recommendation about whether testing makes sense now, later, or not at all.
Making sense of an existing report
Evaluation reports can be dense. We will translate the findings into plain language, explain what they mean for school and home, and help you plan the next steps.
What a pediatric consultation includes
- A parent interview
- A review of academic, psychological, medical (if appropriate), and IEP records
- A discussion about educational and treatment planning
Consultations are provided by Drs. Claudia Kernan, Chandni Singh, Jesse Fischer, and Karen Wilson.
For professionals and educators
Our doctors are available to consult with other professionals and educators regarding a child's learning and social-emotional challenges. If you are a pediatrician, therapist, educational consultant, or school team member, we would be glad to think through a case with you.
